It's developed in the Bow River floodplain, on its escarpment and the upland plain.

Riverbend residents can access shopping and services at the Riverbend shopping centre at the north side of the community. At this centre you'll find a Sobey's, a registry, gas stations, restaurants, banking, and more. Also near the south side of the community in the neighbouring community of Quarry Park are more things for your daily needs. Riverbend Recreation

Riverbend's location next to the Bow River also means residents can easily access the great outdoors. Residents can enjoy pathways along the Bow River, Carburn and Sue Higgins Park. Carburn Park is a 135-hectare park along the Bow River with three man-mad ponds for fishing, canoeing, paddle boating, and ice skating in the winter time. Sue Huggins Park is 62 hectares large, also along the Bow River and is home to the largest fenced off-leash area in Calgary. The Riverbend Community Association runs a number of programs for all ages. For example the Little Steps Pre-School, fitness classes, sports leagues, annual community garage sale, Stampede breakfasts and more.
